Grant (Scooter Pattersaon)– Paralympic Swimmer 

Larger than life in and out of the pool, Scooter is not just a Paralympic swimmer, he’s a force of nature.

 

With a megawatt smile, boundless charisma, and an unshakable belief in the power of positivity, he’s as much a fan favorite as he is a fierce competitor.

Born with Diastrophic Dysplasia Scooter never saw limits,only opportunities. He dove into the world of competitive swimming early on and quickly rose through the ranks, turning heads with his raw talent, infectious energy, and bold presence on the international stage.

 

Representing Australia at multiple Paralympic Games, Scooter has racked up an impressive medal haul the 3x Paralympian has won 1 bronze in the 150m individual medley and 1 silver medal in the 50m Breastroke where he set the Oceania record at the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games. Scooter then backed it up in Paris with another 2 bronze medals 1 in the 150m medley and 1 in the 50m Breastroke. But what truly sets him apart is his ability to inspire. Whether it’s hyping up a crowd, lifting up his teammates, he has a magnetic way of making people believe in themselves. 

 

Off the blocks, Scooter is a sought-after speaker, social media personality, and advocate for adaptive sport and showing Australia that you can  find ability in disability. Scooter embodies energy, resilience and is unapologetically himself.

At 2010 Berlin International Championships, he earned two gold medals and one silver medal. 

Competing at the 2011 Australian National Championships, he set a world record in the 100m backstroke event. He was a member of the Australian team competing at the 2010 IPC Swimming World Championships in Eindhoven, Netherlands. 

At the 2011 Para Pan Pacific Championships, he earned seven medals. He was selected to represent Australia at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in swimming.
