Bucking the trend of most retired athletes, Lee Carseldine’s life has been non-stop since concluding his professional cricket career. Engaging life with vigor, Lee has gone well beyond his comfort zone… completing a double Masters degree, co-founding a highly successful start-up drone business, media and travel blogging business, trekking the Kokoda Trail, and appearing twice, including runner-up, on hit reality TV show Survivor Australia.
Always a precocious talent, Lee’s years of agonizing back stress fractures and degenerative disc issues forced him into an early retirement. A spinal fusion and complications resulting from a life-threatening infection did not slow Lee down, and his comeback was recognized by News Corp in the top 20 courageous athletes of 2008. Lee played 132 matches for Queensland, whilst playing extensively around the globe, including India, England, Sri Lank, New Zealand, South Africa, and Bangladesh.
Following his MBA and Masters of Applied Finance, Lee began several businesses, including Droneit Group and DG Media. He has also spent considerable time assisting retired cricketers transition into their post-careers through his role with the Austrlaian Cricketers Association and the non-profit Bulls Master’s Program.
Exuding trademark honesty, humor and a fresh approach to life, Lee enjoys taking on a variety of media and commentating roles, regularly commentating the Brisbane Heat games, and working with Channel 7 as co-host of the Queensland Weekender lifestyle program.
Fitness has always been a core pillar of Lee’s personality which has seen him complete marathons, triathlons and the Kokoda Trail post-retirement. Lee continues to positively influence his own and others fitness journey’s by working closely with Fitstop Australia.
