He owns the 200m individual medley SM9 world record and has broken it three times; he is a dual Paralympic gold medallist, four-time world champion and back-to-back Commonwealth Games champion, honoured with an OAM in 2025. He is also completing an engineering degree — a discipline-and-detail story that lands with corporate and STEM audiences most athletes can’t reach. Tim Hodge OAM PLY is a dual Paralympic gold medallist, three-time Paralympian, four-time world champion, back-to-back Commonwealth Games champion and the current world-record holder in the 200m individual medley SM9.
At the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, Tim won gold in the 200m individual medley SM9 in Paralympic-record time and gold in the mixed 4x100m medley relay 34pts, alongside silver in the 100m butterfly S9. In 2025 he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia and claimed his third consecutive world title in the 200m IM. In July 2026 he led the Australian team into the Glasgow Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony as baton bearer — then defended the 100m backstroke S9 title he won at Birmingham 2022.
Despite losing his right foot at the age of four, along with other limb differences, Tim is an electric athlete with a relentless drive and competitive fire that has continually placed him at the pinnacle of the swimming world.
In recognition of his passion and dedication, Tim has been awarded the Sport NSW Young Athlete of the Year with a Disability award twice in 2018 and 2021, and 2019’s Sportsperson of the Year at his hometown Blacktown City Sports Awards.
