Why brands choose Tariq

Tariq fits performance, fitness and family briefs with a story that is still being written.

A 236-game NRL forward with six Origins for New South Wales across three series-winning campaigns, he closed his playing career at Catalans Dragons in 2025 — then finished in the top quarter of 2,024 doubles pairs at HYROX Sydney within nine months. That arc, from elite team sport to individual fitness racing, gives brands in training, apparel, recovery and nutrition a working athlete rather than a retired name. Add a decade of mental-fitness advocacy inside the NRL and a household that includes professional boxer Ashleigh Sims, and you have campaign talent with substance across both league and fitness audiences.

Profile

About Tariq

Tariq Sims retired from professional rugby league in 2025 after a 14-season career spanning 236 NRL games and two seasons with Catalans Dragons in the English Super League. Across 13 NRL seasons he played for the Cowboys, Knights, Dragons and Storm, represented New South Wales in six State of Origin matches — including all three games of the Blues’ 2021 series win — and wore the Fiji jersey at the 2013 World Cup alongside his brothers Ashton and Korbin.

Retirement has not slowed him down. Tariq has turned his engine to HYROX, the global fitness race, finishing in the top quarter of more than 2,000 doubles pairs at HYROX Sydney in 2026 — less than a year after his final game of football.

Despite his footballer résumé and imposing stature, Tariq faces fierce competition for the title of best athlete in his own household: his wife Ashleigh is a professional boxer with the power and grit to match.

Away from competition, Tariq is a family man and a long-standing advocate for youth programs and mental fitness. With a larger-than-life personality that extends well beyond his 193cm frame, he brings a wealth of knowledge and hard-won experience from an illustrious career across two hemispheres.
