The man, the myth, the legend… Gerry Geltch is a passionate and outgoing media personality & motivational speaker, owner of Air Fraser Island, and the runner-up of Survivor Australia Season 8: Heroes v Villains, who has a remarkable life story to share!
As Chief Pilot of Air Fraser Island, Gerry has faced many challenges throughout his career. In 2000, while a passenger of a 10-seater Cessna aircraft on a test flight, Gerry was involved in a plane crash where he sustained life-threatening injuries. However, with the undying support of his family and friends, Gerry made a remarkable recover and was flying again just six months later.
In 2012, Gerry’s eldest son Dayne tragically passed away, marking another dark-time for he and his family. However, Gerry once again lent on his passion and love for the island life to regain strength and commitment to his own life… a process which Gerry believes he has not mastered, but hopes to share his experience on.
In another test of strength, Gerry was a contestant on TV’s ultimate survivor game – Survivor Australia. Guided by his experience, he would go on to outwit, outplay and outsmart his fellow competitors as the oldest contestant to ever appear on the series, and would go on to become runner-up of Season 8!
A family man first-and-foremost, Gerry is unafraid in his pursuit of new experiences, working as an aspiring actor, model and dancer, whilst serving as a motivational speaker on the subjects of life & death, rags to riches, suicide, coping with loss, depression, anxiety, building a business from the foundations, and his passion, aviation.
At his heart, Gerry is the true definition of a true Aussie battler!
