Tariq Sims is a professional Australian rugby league player currently playing for the Catalans Dragons in the English Super League. A seasoned NRL veteran, Tariq spent 13 seasons in the NRL playing for the Cowboys, Knights, Dragons & Storm, before pursuing opportunities internationally.

Coming from a family with a wealth of professional rugby league experience and success, Tariq had a unique career pathway – holding close ties to both NSW and QLD clubs. Tariq made his first-grade debut with the North Queensland Cowboys in 2011, and has since played second row, lock and prop over 230+ caps. Throughout his career, Tariq has had the privilege of representing NSW Country from 2012-2017 and the Fijian National Team in 2013. Undoubtedly however, Tariq’s most coveted achievement has been receiving a guernsey to represent the New South Wales Blues in the State of Origin series on six occasions, beginning in 2018.

Despite his footballer resume and imposing stature, many may argue that Tariq faces fierce competition within his own household for the title of best athlete. Tariq’s wife Ashleigh is a professional boxing stud in her own right, and gives Tariq a run in terms of sheer power, grit and strength!

Away from footy, Tariq is a family man, who have together recently relocated to Europe to further his career. Tariq is a fantastic advocate for youth clubs and programs in both his hometown and across Australia.

With a larger than life personality that extends well beyond his 193cm, 105kg frame, Tariq is humbled athlete with a wealth of knowledge and experience gained throughout his illustrious career.
