The Brisbane native announced himself at the 2024 World Aquatics Swimming World Cup in Incheon, capturing gold in the men’s 100m freestyle and bronze in the 50m sprint — proof that his raw speed and relentless work ethic translate to international success.
His momentum continued into 2025. At the Australian Open Championships in Brisbane, he claimed silver in both the 100m freestyle (48.63) and 50m freestyle behind world-class fields. Later that season, he travelled to the United States and shocked a strong field at the US Summer Championships, winning the 50m freestyle in 21.63 — ahead of Olympic legend Caeleb Dressel — then clocking a 21.43 personal best days later that placed him among the five fastest Australians in history.
In 2026 he converted promise into hardware: the Australian Open 50m freestyle title in April, selection for his first Australian Games team in June, and bronze in the 50m freestyle at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games — part of an all-Australian podium sweep on his Games debut.
