Shayna Jack OAM OLY is one of Australian swimming’s fastest freestylers and a two-time Olympic gold medallist, winning the 4×100m and 4×200m freestyle relays at Paris 2024 and reaching the Olympic final of the 100m freestyle. She remains a co-holder of two current world records — the 4×100m and 4×200m freestyle relays set at the 2023 World Championships, where she won three gold medals.
Her path there is what sets her apart. In 2019, an out-of-competition test result removed her from the sport for two years. The Court of Arbitration for Sport found she never intentionally took a banned substance, and in 2021 dismissed appeals seeking to extend her suspension. Shayna returned to win gold, silver and bronze at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games within a year of re-entering the pool.
That comeback — told in the ABC’s Australian Story: Comeback — has made her one of the country’s most requested voices on resilience, integrity under pressure and mental wellbeing, themes she delivers through her Unlocking Resilience speaking program. Her mainstream profile spans SAS Australia and I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! (2025). She was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the 2025 Australia Day Honours.
Now training in Perth, Shayna has been selected for her third Commonwealth Games at Glasgow 2026 — this time alongside her brother, Jamie.
